How to Apply for NSFAS — Step by Step

Applications open in October each year. Don't miss the deadline.

Check eligibility

Household income below R350,000/year. South African citizen or permanent resident. Enrolled at a public university or TVET college.

Gather documents

SA ID, parents' payslips or SASSA letter, proof of address, matric certificate (or Grade 12 results), acceptance letter from institution.

Apply online

Go to www.nsfas.org.za from October. Create an account, complete the application, upload documents. Apply even before you have an acceptance letter.

Track your application

Log in to myNSFAS to track your application status. NSFAS will contact you via SMS and email. Respond to any requests for additional documents promptly.
